Excellent post you have here. One thing I like most about this post is the proper segmentation of the various opportunities. I have tried some of them out since I left college and i’ve made a good return for myself but I wish to go a step further. I like affiliate marketing and seeing it among the list provided here, I feel like its high time I tried it out. Though resume writing seems lucrative too. Thanks so much for this
Hi RoDarrick!
Thanks for your comments, I appreciate you taking the time. I am glad you found this post useful. I have tried more than a few of the 22 recommendations and made some good money doing it. The problem for me was that I did not really love what I was doing. Whichever one of the 22 you choose, I highly suggest that you have a passion for it. Otherwise it will quickly feel like the 9 to 5 that you did not enjoy.
I finally settled on affiliate marketing and I can honestly say that I love it. Because I have a passion for it, I was able to sustain long periods of work, with no financial benefits to show for my hard work. Eventually I was able to get over the hump and see some progress as well as income. I have never looked back!
I say all this to encourage you to pursue your curiosity towards Affiliate marketing. My website has some many links that will take you to fanrtastic training that will help you start on the right footing. While I cannot guarantee you success, I can guarantee you some of the most effective and comprehensive training !

While the online programming jobs (read web design…) seem to intuitively be a good idea, me personally, I feel like those fields are difficult to get into and quite competitive, atleast online. Literally the whole programming world speaks English, and literally all of them have thought of doing computer work from home (because who doesn’t want to?).
Just take a look at fiverr and upwork. You’ll be competing with people who have twice (read thrice) the amount of experience from countries where they can affor to work for 10X less the pay. I feel like you’ll end up working more hours for less pay than in a regular job, let alone less reliable payment. What you can use do though, is get some experience and projects done you can further use to further market yourself as a freelancer. But getting to a point where you can work online comfortably and full-time, that’ll take a few years I fear.
Anyway, that’s just my opinion, feel free to differ.
Hi Faheem,
Thank you so much for your comments. I will not disagree with your comment because you have a good point. However, my readership spans the globe and I believe that someone with the correct skills and personality can definitely make a go at programming. There are many folks in India (as an example) and in other places that speak english as well as you and I, and have the programming skills to be successful.
I never expected my 22 recommendations to fit everyone. They are meant as recommendations for people to consider. At best I was thinking that my readers would pick 1 or 2 .
Anyhow, I really appreciate your thoughts and comments.

Mike, thank you for highlighting 22 work from home opportunities that can work.
My research and experience shows that it is best for most people to start their work from home business part time as on average it takes time to establish yourself enough to earn an income.
There is always an investment of time and money however the monetary investment is much smaller for home-based business than that of conventional brick and mortar business.
Additionally, it is normal to underestimate the amount of promotion that is required to establish a home-based business. Neil Patel a world renounced online business expert suggests “THE 80/20 RULE” which states that a business requires 20 percent work and 80 percent promotion.
Promoting your business includes both free and paid promotion. Some businesses lend more to free promotion than others. So when it comes to promoting your business experimentation is often required.
I believe this quote sums things up nicely: “Early to bed, early to rise and advertise.”
Hi Tom.
Thank you for your comment! I agree that the most “reasonable” way is to start part-time. This offers several benefits:
– You are not strapped for cash
-You are not under pressure to provide $$$ for your income
-You can learn as you earn (I’m a big fan of this odel)
-You can slowly build over time until you reach the point where you replace your income or achieve whatever income you set as your goal.
Quitting cold turkey when you have bills to pay is not the recommended way to dive into home busness. Be deliberate, determined and smart!
You will need to promote your business at some point. The good news is that you don’t need to be a genius or a PHD in marketing. As you mention, budget 10% more than you think will be required (either in time or $$$).
I have never done paid promotions. Only SEO, so I cannot speak for PPC. What I can say, is that it always takes ore than you originally estimated as per your comment! You are spot on!
Thanks for chiming in Tom. I really appreciate it.
To your sucess,
Mike A
